Sir,

The anxious efforts, the need for air,

The harder breaths, the avid despair,

But I know, oxygen, fan and morphine

Your eyes then had blinked with peace serene

The deep pain makes you feel numb,

And a day with it, you may succumb,

But I know, if I can give you some relief,

You will be filled with immense joy, not grief

That you have an ulcer that bleeds,

And there are maggots, on which they feeds,

But I know, dressing well by my soft hands,

Will heal them with the care it demands

The tense abdomen you carry with you,

Fluid out by tapping daily, nothing new,

But I know, as the fluid fills up the bottle,

I have made you again somewhat well

With the tube in nose, you asked that day

From my mouth, will ever food make its way,

And when I said, “sure try to have sips few”

Your small weeps were of ecstasy, I knew

I'm not a hard rock or an inert sand,

I'm neither a God with a magic wand,

But I know, when I see you sick in disdain,

I will exist, To be there, to help again and again.
